Terms of Service

The essentials for writing and working together in Tulip.

10 sectionsPrivacy Policy

Using Tulip

Tulip is an untitled.life product for writing, compiling and collaborating on LaTeX projects. These terms apply when you use the website and workspace. By using Tulip, you agree to these terms. If you use it for an organization, you must have authority to act for that organization.

Questions about these terms can be sent to [email protected]. Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled.

Your account

Use an account you are authorized to use and keep its sign-in credentials secure. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone has gained unauthorized access.

You must be able to enter into these terms under the laws that apply to you. Tulip is intended for research, study and professional writing; it is not designed as a service directed at young children.

Your work belongs to you

You retain the rights you have in your source files, documents, images and other work. Using Tulip does not transfer ownership of that work to us.

You give Tulip permission to store, copy, process, compile and deliver your content as needed to run the features you use, including saving versions, generating previews, collaboration and exports. This permission does not give us a general right to publish your private projects.

You are responsible for having the rights and permissions needed to upload content, share it with collaborators and send it to connected services. Do not include confidential or personal information you are not authorized to handle.

Sharing, review and ownership

The owner controls who can access a project. Editors can edit its files. Reviewers can comment and propose changes, but cannot directly edit project files. Viewers have read-only access. Shared users cannot invite others through Tulip’s sharing controls.

Ownership can be offered to another account and changes only when that person accepts, subject to account limits. An owner can remove access or delete a project. Other collaborators can leave a shared project. Downloaded files and independent copies cannot be recalled by changing permissions.

Review comments, proposals and compiled documents require your judgment. You are responsible for checking your work before submission or publication.

Use the service responsibly

Do not use Tulip to break the law, infringe other people’s rights, harass others, distribute harmful material or expose information without permission. Do not bypass access controls, attempt to access another person’s projects or credentials, run malicious code, or deliberately overload the service.

Compilation and integrations are provided for legitimate writing workflows. Do not use them to mine cryptocurrency, attack other systems, send unsolicited messages or run unrelated workloads. If you find a security problem, report it to [email protected] without accessing or disclosing other users’ data.

Plans and practical limits

The current Free plan includes three projects you own. Archived projects count toward that limit; projects shared with you do not. Existing projects are not automatically deleted if your account exceeds its limit. Creating, copying or importing another owned project requires an available slot.

Free accounts use browser compilation. Server compilation is restricted to accounts with an eligible server-managed plan. Upcoming paid plans are not currently available for purchase; “Coming soon” is not a paid subscription or a promise of a launch date.

There is no monthly compilation-time allowance in the current Free plan. Individual jobs, storage, uploads, network requests and concurrent operations have technical and security limits. Browser compilation also depends on your device, memory, browser and package compatibility. “Unlimited” features do not remove those practical limits or permit abusive use.

We will explain any future paid pricing and purchase terms before charging you.

Templates and third-party services

Publisher templates, community formats, fonts, packages and example content remain subject to their original licenses and submission requirements. A template being listed in Tulip is not a guarantee that it is current, suitable for your journal, or approved by that publisher. Check the official source and included license before redistributing or submitting.

Some catalog pages are guides to an official source rather than hosted template downloads. Available previews are examples, not a guarantee that every changed or imported project will compile.

Optional connections and external links are subject to the provider’s terms and availability. Connecting a service authorizes the access described in its connection flow. You remain responsible for the repositories, reference libraries and backup destinations you choose. Tulip is independent of Google, GitHub, Zotero, Mendeley, Dropbox, ReadCube and Overleaf; mentioning them does not imply their endorsement.

Availability and keeping a copy

We work to make Tulip useful and reliable, but the service is provided as available. Features can change, maintenance can interrupt access, and compilation can fail. We do not promise uninterrupted access, flawless output or compatibility with every LaTeX package.

Keep an independent copy of important work. Download source ZIPs and needed outputs, and check that your backup contains the files you need. Project history and browser caches are useful working features, not a substitute for your own backup.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, we do not provide implied warranties beyond the promises expressly made in these terms. Nothing here excludes rights or responsibilities that cannot lawfully be excluded, including any mandatory consumer rights.

Leaving or restricting access

You can stop using Tulip, sign out, export your work and delete projects you own. Contact [email protected] to request deletion of your account or information beyond the available controls. Deleting your account or leaving a project does not automatically erase copies held by collaborators or external services.

We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to address misuse, a security risk or a legal requirement. Where feasible and appropriate, we will explain the reason and how to resolve it. Contact us if you believe a restriction was made in error.

Changes and questions

We may update these terms as the service develops. The revision date appears above, and material changes will be brought to users’ attention through an appropriate service notice. If you disagree with an update, you can stop using Tulip and export your work.

If a provision cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. These terms do not take away protections you have under applicable law. For questions or concerns, contact [email protected].
