Features
Write, compile and review LaTeX in one place.
Everything below is included in the free plan.
Write
A code editor that knows LaTeX.
- Command and environment completion, with figure, table and equation snippets you fill in with Tab and Shift+Tab.
- Search text across every file, open any file by name with Ctrl/Cmd+P, and run any command from Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+P.
- Split views, word wrap, light and dark themes. Editor preferences are saved on each device.
- Markdown notes with a rendered preview. PDFs and images open in their own viewers.
Compile
Build the PDF as often as you need.
- pdfLaTeX, XeLaTeX or LuaLaTeX. Tulip switches to LuaLaTeX or XeLaTeX on its own when your source uses unicode-math or fontspec.
- Up to 10 minutes per run, with no monthly allowance.
- BibTeX and Biber, plus minted, xindy and bib2gls when a document needs them.
- Missing TeX Live packages download automatically and stay cached. Upload your own .otf or .ttf fonts and publisher .cls or .sty files.
- Errors and warnings link to the file and line. The full log and generated files such as the .bbl are one click away.
- A PDF from a build with errors still opens, and the last PDF stays visible while the next one compiles.
Source and PDF
Move between the two without losing your place.
- Double-click a passage in the PDF, or Ctrl/Cmd-click it, to open the line that produced it.
- Right-click your source and choose Show in PDF to find it in the document.
- Zoom, fit to width, pinch on a touch screen, and download the PDF.
Collaborate
Unlimited collaborators on every project.
- Everyone’s name and cursor show as they type.
- Comment on selected text, or pin a comment to a point on a PDF page or an image. Reply in threads.
- Reviewers propose changes in a private draft. An owner or editor compares the proposal and accepts or rejects it.
- Hand a project to someone else. Ownership changes when they accept.
Invites people, manages access, and can do everything below.
Edits the source, and accepts or rejects proposed changes.
Comments, and proposes changes without editing the shared files.
Reads the files, PDFs, comments and history.
History
No time limit, on every project.
- See who changed a file and when.
- Every change from the last 24 hours, then one snapshot per hour for 30 days and one per day after that.
- Name a version with Save version to keep it exactly as it is.
- Compare any saved version with the current file, inline or side by side.
- Opening an old version never overwrites your current file. Copy back what you need.
Files and projects
Your source stays yours.
- Upload files or whole folders. Nested paths are kept.
- Import a ZIP of up to 512 MB (2 GB unpacked, 10,000 files), including an Overleaf export with several projects in one ZIP.
- Organize projects into categories, archive or copy them, and download any project as a source ZIP.
- Edits made while you’re offline are kept on your device and sync when you reconnect.
References and Git
Bring the tools you already use.
- Import a library from Zotero or Mendeley, or upload BibTeX and RIS exports, including from ReadCube.
- Connect a GitHub repository and review diffs, stage and commit from the Source Control panel.
- The project owner sets up connections in Project settings.
On a phone
Check and fix a draft away from your desk.
- Switch between Files, Editor and Preview. Compile and share from the header.
Try it with your own paper.
Start from a journal template, or import a ZIP from Overleaf.
